If you are an aggressive trail rider or ride enduro/dual sport/adventure (or whatever they are calling it today) you know that if you go on a hard ride and start sweating under the jacket you basically never get warm and dry again. I ride a KTM 300xcw and live in Albuquerque. I ride desert trails and some mountain trails. I also wear this jacket when I ride my Trek Fuel mountain bike in the foothills and mountains near Albuquerque. I like to ride year-round but when I wear a regular, non-vented jacket, once my heart rate gets up and I start sweating, the ride can start to suck. The Traverse solves the problem with breathable GoreTex and large, well placed vents. I don't know how well GoreTex really breathes, but I can tell you that the vents work super well at flowing air and drying me off. The vents on the Traverse work just like the ones on my Mojave pants. They are great when you are sitting on the bike (MX or MTB) and even better once you stand up. Because of their location on the lower back, the rear vents work even if you are wearing a hydration pack. You can zip the vents open with one hand, but it takes two hands to close them. And, the zippers are high quality and do not snag on material as you zip them. The only negative I can see is that, for the money, Klim could have added a removable insulated liner.Bottom Line: If you already own and like other Klim gear, you will be happy with the Traverse.
